In this bumper two-part episode, expert guest, Dr Claire Conlon, discusses the overlap between ADHD and anxiety.
In part 2, Claire talks about the stresses children with ADHD can feel. She explains how children can behave when they feel like they're experiencing a threat, and tailoring what we do to help them feel safe. That includes finding the strategies that best support them.
Claire is a Doctor in Clinical Psychology. She also shares three tips during the episode:
- Ask yourself exactly what your child is struggling with and in what environments to help you to understand how you can make them feel safe and regulated.
- Find their ‘toolbox’ of strategies to support them, such as sensory toys or activities.
- Talk to them about their diagnosis so that they understand what’s happening when they feel anxious.
The My Family Coach podcasts covers every aspect of children’s behaviour, all in handy 15 minute (ish) bite-sized chunks. Each episode features a new guest chatting about a different aspect of behaviour and leaves you with three handy tips to use at home.
