Sonia recommends the book Brain-Body Parenting by Mona Delahooke.
She also shares three tips during her episode:
- Listen to your child and get to know their triggers.
- Acknowledge their feelings and be kind and gentle. Think about small steps, not big things.
- Use emotional language right from when they are very young babies - and this comes back to us first. If we don't have a good emotional vocabulary, we can't use it with our children. She mentions the work of Brené Brown being useful for this.
The My Family Coach podcasts covers every aspect of children's behaviour, all in handy 15 minute (ish) bite-sized chunks. Each episode features a new guest chatting about a different aspect of behaviour and leaves you with three handy tips to use at home.
